It was an absolute joy to celebrate Gaby’s birthday on retreat and honoured for it to have been her second time on the Byron retreat in 6 months!
And even more special to gift her “the best cake I’ve ever eaten in my life!” For her 81st birthday. And I agree, it was ridiculously delicious!!
I met Gaby, and her daughter Mimi, in a pool in Athens last year. I had no plans to go to Greece. They were there for Gaby’s 80th birthday and a month out Gaby started saying that she wanted to do an Ayurvedic meditation retreat. My soul must have heard that, and a month out from us meeting I started planning heading to Greece.
As soon as I met Mimi in the pool we started talking about meditation, that they lived in Byron Bay, and that I had a retreat coming up. As soon as Mimi said, my Mum has been saying she’s wanting to do a meditation retreat, Gaby arrived at the poolside, was introduced to me in the pool, and put the details of the retreat in her phone immediately. They were booked in within the hour to last year’s Byron retreat, and at the end of that one, they both booked straight back in to join me for the March retreat!
It was such an absolute joy to have Gaby and her daughter Mimi on the Byron Retreat together. And an absolute delight to hear they came in feeling somewhat disconnected and strained in their relationship, and left feeling more connected to each other and grateful for their time and the experience together.
This is the power of reconnecting deeply with ourselves, that we can then connect more deeply to everyone and everything around us.
Spending time meditating and in immersive practice on retreat, not only serves us, it serves those around us as well. We unlock and process stored stress, trauma and fatigue that’s been building in the nervous system, and automatically access more of our patient, present, compassionate aspects of self.
It’s powerful to give yourself the time to deeply reset and I love being a part of that process and watching what transpires naturally as a result.
‘When I arrived on retreat I was collapsing, literally, physically and emotionally.’
Gaby came into this retreat feeling physically and mentally depleted and left as a renewed woman. When Gaby arrived on retreat she’d just lived through the cyclone in Byron, and a long term back injury that she’d ended up hospitalised with 3 years ago, had cripplingly resurfaced.
It was an absolute joy to see her leave at the end of the retreat feeling rested, rejuvenated, without pain (most importantly!!), happy, and full of joy!
And excitedly, this coming week, at 81 years old, post retreat she’s now feeling ready to pack up her house, and begin her knock down, rebuild! This is the power of an immersive experience! Gaby is an example to us all of what’s possible!
‘Multiple thank-you for a reawakening. It has been a very timely experience! With much appreciation and love – love Gaby’
My heart is full!
It’s absolutely incredible to see what can happen in 4 days of immersion of retreat for people!
This is a life of purpose, service and love!
