Vedic Meditator: Kyla + Andy Fay

Kyla and her husband Andy were the first people I met in Japan in February 2024. They said they were meant to meet me. They were meant to learn Vedic Meditation with me. They left the next day. And booked into The Byron Bay Reconnection Retreat. They have since attended two of the Byron Bay retreats together, it’s been an absolute joy to have them both, and to watch their lives and their practice unfold.

“We have now been to two meditation retreats in Byron Bay with Kate and they were amazing! The retreats were first class, the food was sublime, the massage, the property and the 5 star accommodation were fantastic. Learning to meditate properly was such a joy and has made a huge difference to our lives. We met some lovely like minded people from all walks of life. I would highly recommend one of Kate’s retreats to everyone – you won’t regret it!

Kate our ‘chance’ meeting in Japan changed our lives – we are so grateful for you and everything you have shared with us. Thank-you Kate, you are one in a million. It was so kind of the universe to put us together and I know we will be better off for it. So excited for our future” ~ Kyla

I had travelled for 30 hours. I’d left Gerroa at 5am. Driven to the airport. Taken a train into the city to be at the passport office as soon as it opened, to try to get a new passport in time to board my flight that night. 24 hours before my flight mine had gone through the wash. I handed this over to the universe. If I was meant to be speaking at this medical conference I was willing to do everything I could to be there. I was told it takes 48 hours. Within 2 hours, I had my passport. Unheard of. I got my flight. An internal flight and 2 hours on a bus and my room wasn’t ready to check-in to.

I went to find lunch. I felt into the fine level of feeling – that puts us in the right place at the right time – and followed what felt charming. I got intentional. I was told the best Raman was at the cafeteria. I went in search of it. When I placed my order, again I felt inwards, and got intentional, present, where was I going to sit. I wanted a view of the snow.

I sat down, and sitting next to me was a couple from… Byron Bay.

Andy and his wife Kyla. We got talking. Are you here alone? Oh I’m here to speak at a medical conference, I told them. What’s the conference on? What are you speaking about? How did you get into meditation?

As some of you know, I was working as a lawyer, I was hit by a car, I was in constant pain, and seeing neurosurgeons for the spinal damage that had been caused, when I eventually learnt Vedic Meditation.

And then Andy said, “it’s a crazy thing when you go to work and don’t come home.” He’d been hit by a car too. And Kyla was seeing neurosurgeons for her back.

What were the chances.

They decided they had been sent me. And booked into the Byron retreat.

I went back and checked into my room. I was upgraded to the most magnificent suite possible!

Andy told me later he’d noticed me as soon as I walked in. Then when he looked again I was gone. And then when he looked across I was sitting right next to him.

“Kate it was always to be. I’m very grateful for meeting you, for your teaching and friendship. Thank-you for all that goes into organising your wonderful retreats. Both have been wonderful retreats with fantastic people who offered so much also. Grateful for you and this time we have spent together. Great souls sharing a fantastic opportunity ” ~ Andy
